Closeness

God has no religion.

As one is in, or evolves from prepersonal to personal to transpersonal (or preconventional, conventional, postconventional), the capacity for closeness with others increases in like degree. Such closeness in transpersonal can embrace the Quiet more easily with other and self; yet, this closeness can be intense, though subtle in the intensity often – that is, subtle increases with movement toward the Center. Also, as one moves more into Communion-in-Union with the Center, with Grace, one surrenders increasingly effort to be close to anyone. Closeness, in Grace, arises from intimacy with and the Intimacy of the Center, for in the Center intimacy with is the Intimacy of the Center. One will more easily discern, likewise, those who manifest a lack of capacity to share closeness where one is now living and loving from; this means as experience-of-Oneness increases, extent of others with whom one can share practical connection like-with-like decreases – one must learn to embrace the apartness, aloneness: this is one of the purposes of intentional practice of some form of spiritual Meditation. He or she becomes more discerning, so as not to try to be close to someone who cannot receive it, while this does not exclude normal human interactions and loving him or her truly in a lovely, graceful manner – a spiritual law is closeness is always a gift, something received, and receptivity moves from body to mind to soul to spirit-Spirit.

So, what does one do? One relaxes and gives this to Grace and, then, waits and receives as the Supernal Intelligence works to bring before one he or she, they, ready and prepared to share like-closeness. This does not mean one does nothing, only that one acts in simple kindness and is prepared to receive when closeness meets him or her in another desiring and able to share it. One learns, furthermore, not to be involved overly with anyone that cannot sustain the closeness. One is most prepared for true Closeness, beyond the body and emotion, though Subtle Closeness does not negate either, when he or she is content in the Communion-of-Oneness, Intimacy, with the Center, Grace. Stay close with the Center, in the Withinness of the Center, and see what happens. Stay in Love in the Center, with that Beloved, and receptivity will remain and grow. Receive, and be thankful. You may be surprised in what forms Love will arise to meet you, of this world and other, even now, for Subtle embraces more than just here.

©Brian Kenneth Wilcox 2017. Brian is a Hospice Chaplain, living out his vow to serve all living beings by serving those preparing to die and their friends and family. Brian lives a vowed life, alone in a quasi-hermitic life, and integrates varied religions, but most especially the contemplative paths of Buddhism and his native faith, Christianity. Brian received a 'mystical' Christ-experience at age 9, and was introduced to a peace untouched by pain and suffering. Later, in his mid-30s, after surviving a dark night of despair, Brian was vowed to a contemplative Christian way of life on St. Matthew's Feast day, 1995, by Greenbough House of Prayer, in Georgia, USA. This began many years of ardent reading, spiritual practice, and exploration of many spiritual paths, including publication of his book An Ache for Union: Poems on Oneness with God through Love. The Journey has led Brian to the joy beyond the ache, a contentment in experiential union with Grace. Brian lives with the affirmation that Love, not as emotion but Divine Presence, transcends all paths of religion and is our Source and Destination. As St. Paul writes in the Christian Bible, "Now remain always, faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love." Peace to All!
